Dell factory recovery, reinstall and install of Windows 8
From Login
If you can get to login screen you can do the following to recover the factory install of Windows 8.
Press and hold the shift key
Now click the power button (bottom right) and click restart
you will now be at the WinRE menu
Click troubleshoot
Select Dell Backup and recovery
Select "Next" then "Next" again.
Select if you need to backup files or bit, then "Next"
This can take some time so be patient
- Hopefully you can now access Windows.
From Windows
Press and hold the shift key
Now click start, then power button and click restart
you will now be at the WinRE menu
Click troubleshoot
Select Dell Backup and recovery
Select "Next" then "Next" again.
Select if you need to backup files or bit, then "Next"
This can take some time so be patient
- Hopefully you can now access Windows.
From Boot
If you can't get to the login screen you can do the following:
Press F11, shift F8 on boot
you will now be at the WinRE menu
Click troubleshoot
Select Dell Backup and recovery
Select "Next" then "Next" again.
Select if you need to backup files or bit, then "Next"
This can take some time so be patient
- Hopefully you can now access Windows.
From Memory Key
If you can't get to the login screen you can do the following:
Press F12 on boot
Select your device under UEFI boot
you will soon be at the WinRE menu
Click troubleshoot
Select Dell Backup and recovery
Select "Next" then "Next" again.
Select if you need to backup files or bit, then "Next"
This can take some time so be patient
- Hopefully you can now access Windows.
